It is not just Whirlpool , about everybody changed there warranty about 2 years ago. Most everybody went to a 1 year warranty, period. Even on the compressor system. [It use to be 5 years, on most brands] A lot of people do not read warranties when they buy and are shocked when they need service, they are use to the way it was, not the way it is. There is a couple of brands [one is a pretty HIGH END BRAND] that wants the customer to "troubleshoot" the machine even before asking a service person to come out. Its getting insane to try and do service these days. And most people think that service people make the rules, not the manufacture.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your problem. Whirlpool seems to make just about everything these days.9

My wife and I totally rework our kitchen summer of 2008. We changed all appliances for new ones. I had a Kitchen Aid Superba dishwasher since 1982 and a Jenn-Air appliances since 1988. Never had any problem.

I now have a Jen-Air 42 inches side by side refrigerator and a Kitchen Aid induction cooking top for a year and a half.

I learned that those 2 brands have been puchased by Whirlpool. I know the Whirlpool customer service number by heart... The rest of appliances, not Whirlpool, works fine, but these two are nothing but trouble.

Not only that, but after a year, I have to pay the service technician that comes home 2 -3 weeks after we are making a service call, even if parts are still under warranty! What happened?

Maybe I'm just badlucky. Anyone else is like me? is it just me or the greedy bean counters force engineers into cheap components and beat the sevice guys in this company?
