My front loading washer is having the following symptoms:

1-when I place it in the wash mode (short or long) it starts loading part of the water. it then stops and hums with it trying to turn.

something I want to add is the door handle is broken from a while back when the machine would not release the lock after a full cycle and my wife snapped the door handle off. We've had to use a screwdriver to open the door since. this doesnt bother me at all. the door can be opened at anytime and does not stop the machine from working in a safety auto off.

2-when it hums I can put my hand in and help kick start it turning by manually doing it. it does turn but after a few seconds stops and wants to go the other way, it stops again and I have to turn it a bit to get it moving again. previously when I helped it move along in the beginning, it would continue with the whole cycle. it does agitate some of the time. if I start a cycle it will run throughout the cycle agitating some of the time, but spin and drain completely..but the agitation is a hit or miss.

3-is there anyway to "reset" a machine electronically?

4-if it is the belt, wouldnt it slip and not spin at all? I know my 400 scooter has a variator belt and if the belt slips or snaps the bike just doesnt move and here the machine does spin. it does work in spin cycle mode, although I do have to get it moving manually at times?

5-something it has been doing since day 1 is when the mode selector dial clicks to the next step, it sometimes just doesnt stop and just keeps spinning uncontrollably.it doesnt affect he cycle but just doesnt stop turning.

6-btw, it does start spin dry by itself though and agitates here and there but wants a manual push to get it going. although at other times it will just go by itself and other times it doesnt.

Any help feedback appreciated

Have a great day
