I have a Whirlpool dryer that is about 8 years old. It recenly started squeaking on and off when it is drying. Now it has gotten to the point where it squeaks most all the time. It also heats on and off. Lastly, it does not turn off, but just keeps on running until I turn it off. Then other times it works perfectly. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?

It could be the bearings, I had a dryer that needed new bearings. The squeak got louder and louder and then we fixed it. It cost about $100 to fix.

The timer could be broken and that's why t doesn't go off.
