Black spots and residue on dishwasher seems to be very pathetic. One of the reasons for this problem is using hard detergent for dishwasher. But to overcome these issues, you can use vinegar with hot water or you can apply baking soda powder over it and rinse it well. Theses tips will help and you definitely sought out your problem then.

You can try putting white vinegar in the rinse aid dispenser. I've been doing that for a while and my dishes are cleaner and the gunk is sloowwwly going away.

I have the same problem. I've been reading here on this site that the problem is from the change in dishwasher detergents. The manufacturers stopped putting phosphates in the stuff and now they don't clean well and they leave this gunk.

I read that a product called lemishine can help, but I haven't tried it.

I'm in a house that has a number of ElectroLux kitchen appliances, all installed together in the Spring of last year. The dishwasher works okay at best - spots and residue on the inside of the glasses, and lots of streaking down from the soap container to the bottom.

I don't think the water is hard enough to throw things off, but I can't rule it out. What could be the cause of this? Thanks in advance.
