Hi,

It seems there really is not a whole lot of info obtainable on the Web about this, and I was thinking the same thing, mounting a countertop to a deep freezer- however, with one key difference. I want to use a deep freezer as a center island in my fairly wide galley kitchen. There would be no issues with opening it, and if you have an outlet in the center of your floor ( as I do, from an already- existing island) there would be no problems with electric access. I think it would be a great way to store all of the vegetables I'll wind up harvesting this year and use them through the year without having to go to another room to get them for a meal- it would be right there in front of the work area. My question is: how do you mount one to the lid without compromising the insulation... liquid nails???

So, the countop would attached to the lid of the freezer? What is the counter top made of? IF its just formica, or something light it could work. How about putting the freezer on casters so you can just slide it out to open it?

GOOD THINKING. I hadn't considered that. Thanks. BTW, the guy at our local HD (a longtime kitchen guy) suggested using something like PL3000 to glue a suitable countertop to the freezer. I'm looking at going with butcherblock but am second guessing that as there is so much wood in that room already (cabinets, floors).

Thanks for the 2 cents bliss, hadn't thought of that.

If you mount a counter on top or put it ubnder a counter, how will you open it? Doesn't the lid need to lift up? Am I missing something?

Hi

There would be a break in the length of the countertop. A piece only the length of the freezer would be attached to the freezer.

Hi, we welcome anyone's 2 cents on this one.

We have a chest freezer. Looking at the hinges, there are additional "holes" on the top side of the hinge.

Has anyone mounted countertop to their chest freezer (so it's "under cabinet") ?

Thanks
