About all brands tell you to remove the racks in self clean, they will turn a nice shade of blue if you don't, and sometimes will distort and not slide out right. Most of the racks nowadays are chrome or porcelain coated and will clean quite easily with soap and water.

Does anyone out there know if it is safe to leave the oven racks in when the oven is on 'self clean' mode?

I do not want to ruin the finish on the racks.

And, if it is NOT recommended that the racks stay in when on 'self clean' then what or how is best to clean the racks???

tyvm,
