I prefer solar water heater because it require a well-insulated storage tank. Solar storage tanks have an additional outlet and inlet connected to and from the collector. In two-tank systems, the solar water heater preheats water before it enters the conventional water heater. In one-tank systems, the back-up heater is combined with the solar storage in one tank.

I am glad to respond you on the solar heaters. These are a bit costly and would be around the price what you have asked for. But after you installed you would save a lot of fuel or power bill.

I live in London.. We're renovating a very old house, using spray foam insulation in the outer walls, roof and under the house.

We had a solar company come out over the weekend. With rebates from the state and Fed's, we would have to pay $2000 for an 80 gallon solar water heater. About the same price as a tankless heater.

What are the pros and cons or each?

Which one is better ???
