Recall: STOK Gas Grills by One World Technologies Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

Stok gas grill recall

Name of Product: Gas Grills

Units: About 87,600 in the U.S., 1,400 in Canada

Importer: One World Technologies Inc. of Anderson, S.C.

Hazard: The regulator on the grill can leak propane gas, which can ignite, posing fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm is aware of 569 reports of regulators leaking propane gas. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves STOK Island and STOK Quattro gas grills. The STOK Island has a round grill base and two burners. “STOK” is written on the grill cover and a label on the bottom of the grill stand. The STOK Quattro gas grill is a rectangular, four-burner grill. “STOK” is printed on the grill’s lid. To identify whether a specific Island or Quattro grill is included in this recall, you will need to look at the grill’s regulator. The recalled grills have regulators on them with the model number “AZF” on the front and a date code between 1046 and 1143 on the back of the regulator.

Sold at: Home Depot stores nationwide and in Canada and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide from March 2011 through February 2012 for between $79 and $350.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills and contact One World Technologies for a free replacement gas regulator for the grill.

Recall: Eastwind Industries Kuuma Stow and Go Grills Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at West Marine Stores

Name of Product: Kuuma IR Stow and Go Grills

Units: About 4,600

Importer: Eastwind Industries Inc., of San Leandro, Calif.

Hazard: If the fuel container is not completely threaded on the regulator during installation, the propane tanks can leak fuel. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Eastwind Industries has received three reports of fires from leaking propane tanks, resulting in reports of minor burns to the hands.

Description: This recall involves Kuuma IR Stow and Go barbecue grills. The rectangle grill is stainless steel with the word “Kuuma” embossed on the front. The grill’s main housing measures 18 ½ inches long x 8 ½ inches tall x 10 inches deep. Model number 83726 is printed on the barcode label affixed to the packaging.

Sold exclusively at: West Marine stores nationwide from January 2009 through August 2009 for between $100 and $140.

Manufactured in: Thailand

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled barbecue grills and contact Eastwind for a new operator’s manual with revised graphic installation instructions. Consumers will also receive a new tool to use for maintenance and cleaning of the fuel system.

Recall: Fire and Burn Hazards Prompt Recall of Gas Grills Sold at Lowe’s Stores

Name of Product: Perfect Flame SLG Series Gas Grills

Units: About 663,000 in the United States and about 1,700 in Canada

Importer: L G Sourcing, Inc., of North Wilkesboro, N.C.

Manufacturer: Lucas Innovation Inc., of China

Hazard: The burners can deteriorate causing irregular flames and the lids of some models can catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to the consumer.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received about 40 reports of fires from the burners deteriorating and about 23 reports of the lids catching fire. The firm is aware of one report of an eye injury requiring surgery and 21 incidents of minor burns to the hands, arms or face.

Description: The recalled grills are SLG series “Perfect Flame” brand outdoor propane or natural gas grills. The grills are stainless steel and painted black or gray metal. The model numbers affected by this recall are listed below. The model number can be found in the compartment under the cooking chamber. No other Perfect Flame model numbers are included in this recall.

Hazard: The hose of the gas tank can get too close to the firebox and be exposed to heat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Fiesta has received 161 reports of grill fires, resulting in nine injuries, including two incidents of major burns on different parts of the body, six incidents of minor burns, and an incident involving temporary hearing loss.

Description: This recall involves Blue Ember liquid propane (LP) outdoor grills with model and serial numbers listed below. The cabinet style grill has two doors and is silver and black or silver and gray. “Blue Ember” is printed on the grill’s hood. The model and serial numbers are printed on a rating plate label on the rear of the grill.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the grill and call Fiesta Gas Grills to obtain a free replacement grease pan assembly and instructions for installing the part and the gas tank. The grill should not be used until the new grease pan assembly and the gas tank have been installed correctly. Consumers should also inspect the gas burner hose and regulator, which will be replaced free of charge if there are signs of damage.

Hazard: The bottom of the cook box that contains the burners can melt or crack as a result of a grease fire. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the grill immediately and contact Onward Manufacturing for a free repair kit.
