I purchased an LG refrigerator in October of 2008, It was delivered in January of 2009. The icemaker freezes solid i a few days and it cannot deliver icecubes from it's dispencer. It takes dynamite or a blowtorch to loosen the ice cubes.

I have gotten nowhere with repairs or replacement. Repairmen have been out several times, with negative results. I would be happy to join in a Class Action suit against LG and Home Depot. Got any answere

I had a problem with ice freezing solid so I changed the water filter as it was way past it's useful date. The ice cube maker started working great.

For those experiencing trouble with their LG refrigerator after the energy recall has been done, there is a solution. Their engineering department's fix for the excessive energy consumption was to remove the connection to the heater in the ice maker which keeps it from freezing up. This renders your refrigerator non-repairable.

Contact LG at customerservice@lge.com. Let them know of the leaking..ice maker failure...or side frosting or freezing up. E-mail them a copy of your receipt from the time of purchase. Tell them you are aware of the engineering snafu with the energy recall fix. You may be required to pay a service technician to inspect your unit.

I have a new refrigerotor on the way to replace the one I bought in 2007. I am currently seeking a way to be reimbursed for the $69.95 service call to tell me that the problem was an LG engineering screw-up. LG will tell you that they do not reimburse and that the unit was not under warranty. However, this problem is not a warranty issue but rather an engineering issue connected to the energy consumption fix.

I'll be interested in hearing from folks who have the same issue, particularly the non-reimbursement issue. I believe another class action is in order.

I agree that LG is a joke I bought a $800.00 dishwasher and before it was a year old it quit working took 3 months and 6 repairs to get it fixed! Also bought a LG french door refrigerator I am now waiting on a repair man from out of town to come and fix it , the shop in my home town won't even work on LG things anymore. The ice maker has been replaced once and then the ice maker fan went out now it's the ice maker again leaks water and freezers inside the door of the ice maker you cannot get ice out though the front. I will never buy another LG Of any kind!!!

Purchased model GR389R refrigerator in June 2007 with a two year warranty. Experienced our first problem with the freezer on Feb.17,2009. Transglobal tech determined the fridge was irrepairable and took photos of our invoice, warranty and the interior workings of the fridge/freezer. At this juncture it would appear to be a straight forward warranty issue that could be resolved in a few days via e-mail or fax communication from service [transglobal] to manufacturer [LG]. Apparently not, as it is currently March 2,2009 and nobody including the vender [The Brick} will give us any satisfaction. I won't bore you with the details of the correspondence going back and forth over the past two weeks but frustration has lead to the possibility of some form of legal action and I would be interested to hear from anybody with similar issues.

Is it possible these companies are so short sighted that they issue warranties with no intention of honouring them? Do they have a clue that if I talk to 20 potential customers and talk 10 out of buying their product they lose more than a fridge? Anyway, my advice to anybody contemplating an LG purchase is to look for any alternative -- these are not consumer friendly people. Life is not Good--its a lie.
