You can take the inner tub out of the machine, I take it the nail is in the inner tub? Do you have the model? First you have to remove cabinet , then you have to remove the agitator, then you have a nut to remove then you can pull the tub off. Its really not that big of a deal. I would do it for around $80.

Several items came out of our wash with holes in them and we found a nail wedged into one of the little holes in the inside of the washer tub. (We have an older model top loading Whirlpool washer).

It seems the only way to get it out would be to knock it out from underneath. In looking at diagrams of the washer tubs online (ex: http://www.repairclinic.com/Wa.....ce-Diagram ) it seems there is the outer layer of the tub and then the inner layer of the tub that has the little holes. If we were to open up the washer would there even be anyway to get inside the tub (take apart the tub) so that we could knock the nail out from underneath?

If not, what is the estimated cost to replace the tub? (Is that ever a worthwhile repair or should we replace the unit...like I said its quite old, not sure how old, it came with the house, but it looks old!)

Please help asap- we need to do our laundry thanks!!
