As a Lowe's appliance specialist, I'm admittedly biased against Kenmore , but as servicetech noted, your set looks like it was made by Frigidaire, which is not the best, but certainly not the worst in the industry. Your Maytag, however, was made during a very rough patch in Maytag's history, and if it was me, I wouldn't trust it. As a cost-saving effort, Maytag started farming out all their laundry to Whirlpool about 13 years ago, and basically told Whirlpool to make them as cheap as possible. Customer backlash and class-action lawsuits (Maytag Neptune, anyone?) finally bankrupted the company, and Whirlpool bought them outright in 2006. After 2 more years of bearing the customer complaints, Whirlpool/Maytag got their act together and debuted new laundry products in 2008 (Centennial top-load and Performance series front-load). These new washers and dryers were made with MCT- Maytag Commercial Technology- all-metal motors, commercial-grade drive belts, stainless steel frames, etc. In a rather creative campaign to convert us reluctant salespeople, our vendor reps brought around parts boards with actual Maytag springs, belts, and cogs glued to them next to "Brand X" (Whirlpool) parts, so we could see how heavy and well-made they were. It took a year or two for recover consumer's confidence, but Maytag has been doing well ever since.

Bottom line, your Maytags were made in 2005, which was well within the "bad" time. Since they are regular agitator-driven models, they will also be MUCH less water and energy efficient- they're probably sucking down 50 gallons of water per load. Your Frigidaire/Kenmore set, since it's front-load, is more likely using 10-15 gallons per load, and 60% less electricity too. If I were you, I'd keep the Kenmores, and ditch the Maytags. (Or you can buy new ones at your nearest Lowe's, and we'll haul your old ones away for free! )

The kenmore set is built [its look like] Frigadaire. As far as service issues, I've more problems with the Maytag washers than the Frigadaire washers. The dryers are about the same. For what this is worth.

Have mercy on someone who doesn't know anything about appliances and needs to decide which of the following set of washer/dryers to keep. And sell the other one.

First - I currently own a 2002-ish Kenmore stacked Eco Cycle front-loading washer/dryer combo. I am not sure of the model, but it looks like this:

Second - a 2005 Maytag top-loading washer (model unknown) and front-loading gas dryer (MDG2600BWW) that look like this:
