Roofguru on Kitchen Aide Under Counter Ice Machine

This unit worked fine for about 9 months. Recently, it began to "slow down" the amount of ice it would make. I watched it get less for about 2 weeks, and finally decided to turn it off, and clean it. I removed the screw cap on the reservoir, and sand from my well and some scale came out, actually a lot. I rinsed the heck out of what I could reach in the reservoir after putting the cap back on. I put it in cleaning mode, and did what they said, (other than purchase a particular item that doesn't seem to be too handy to locate). So, After this, I again unscrewed the cap, more crud out. I ketp rinsing, cleaning with a paper towel, rinse, repeat, cap on, cap off, etc.

Let it sit overnight to punish it.
It apparently did not understand my command, because after I turned it back on.... It is doing the same thing. This item is built into the cabinet, and not easily moved. It is plumbed from below under the house, and I can't seem to fit inside it to see while my arms are twisted inside it as well. Kinda like helping a cow give birth. You know it's there, and kinda expect some help from the cow, but nothing is going to happen that you can see, and you wouldn't want to even if you could.

So, I am in a pickle, because I LOOOOVe the undercounter ice maker. I can have ice anytime I want it, and I use a well, so I don't care how much water it takes to make it. Ice everywhere. until recently.
I think it is on strike along with an old Kitchen Aide Stand Mixer and Trash Smasher. The next full moon I am going to take precautions.

ANY ideas WHY this thing started more or less suddenly to make less each day? It is the same as always, good and clear, same size, everything, except just too little by far. Since I did give it a very thorough cleaning I would have thought it would have improved a bit anyway, but it looks like I will need to find some form of lime killer to put in this thing. Just any old stuff would screw it up I;m afraid, but if you have ideas on alternatives, I am ready to hear about it.

I recently discovered an older Kitchen Aide Model K45SS that belonged to my mother-in-law, and we apparently boxed it up and it went "somewhere" in all our stuff (did I mention we're packrats).
The mixer I am pretty sure has not been operational since 1974+-. Okay, as an eternal optimist, I plugged it in. Zippo, Nada, not even a bad smell. (I did take time to clean the outside of it first).

Can anyone recommend a place to start? I am only moderately handy, and I have an employee who is somewhat advanced handy, but I don't want to spend hours and hours on this if it's avoidable.

I agree the older machines are better built. Isn't everything? It is one heavy &*(*. If you've got some ideas, please let me know.

I'd like to fire it up and make some bread, cakes, etc. etc.

I have a kitchen aid double oven. KEBU208SSS

My girlfriend called herself helping and cleaned the top oven with easy off and then turned on the oven clean cycle.

Now the inside of the oven is not shinny like the bottom oven, its a dull blue color and not polished like the bottom oven.

Is there anything I can do or buy to get the shine back? I was mad at her but I told her that the top oven now has character becuase of the dull finish. But I really wish it was the way it was before. I dint want to make her feel too bad.

Kitchen aid laughed at me and said next time use soap and water. They have no solution for me.

Please advise

pandorasoem1 on Haier Chest Freezer Thermostat Replacement

There are some steps you have to follow. I am not aware of haier model. But you can follow these steps to remove refrigerator parts.

power of the refrigerator before removing any panels or screws. If the plug is hidden behind cabinets or in another hard-to-reach location, flip the breaker switch that controls the power to the kitchen.

Find the thermostat on your fridge. Most refrigerators with the freezer on top, the thermostat is either at the rear of the freezer compartment or on the underside of the refrigerator's floor panel. In a side-by-side fridge, the thermostat will be located in the back, on the freezer side.

Remove the icemaker and any food or shelves located in front of the thermostat. Depending on the construction of your refrigerator, you may have to loosen a few screws or remove some retaining clips to take out the inside panel of the freezer.

Use needle-nose pliers to remove the wires from the ends of the thermostat's terminals. Grip the wires close to the end and gently tug until the slip-on connectors pull away from the terminal.

Remove any screws or clamps holding the thermostat in place. Some refrigerator models have the thermostat clamped around the evaporator tube, be careful not to damage this tube while loosening the thermostat. Others may have a clip that can be released before pulling the thermostat up and out of the assembly.

Set the new thermostat in place and reconnect any clips, clamps or screws. If you had to unclamp the thermostat from the fridge's evaporator tube in the previous step, be sure to clamp the new thermostat in the same location. Slip the ends of the wires onto the terminals of the new thermostat. Replace any inside panels, screws or clips that you removed. Plug the refrigerator's cord back into the electrical outlet or flip the breaker back on, and wait for the unit to cool down.
