Just bought a Maytag gas range- MGS5875. The grill top enamel came off while i washed it with a SPONGE! This was after 1 month of use (actual number of uses were prob 15). I contacted customer service who told me that this is a cosmetic issue and not covered by the warranty. I explained to them that I read the instructions (especially it is a gas stove) and recognized the fact that you cannot use abrasive agent on the enamel finish. Home Depot was also unhelpful in assisting the situation- "You have to contact Maytag customer service.". Having read many other Maytag customer reviews (which I made the mistake of not reading PRIOR to buying this poor quality machine), I suggest calling Maytag customer service is futile. I suggest that if you are considering a Maytag product, do your research carefully. There are lots of unsatisfied Maytag customers out there...many who want the old Maytag reputation back.
