No I would not change the fitting. They just started this, this year.

As I read the install manual, it says to use a 3/8" NPT fitting for the water inlet hookup. The problem is the threads on the inlet are a blue nylon material. Can you successfully tighten a brass NPT fitting when the receiving threads are nylon? Should I use another connection method?
