I've not long completed my own house and found that a manufacturer whom I thought represented quality in fact doesn't. Ilve seemed to have a good reputation for their stoves, but after my experience with an Ilve lemon, I realise that the dollar is more important than the customer. Our stove sat in its crate for a bit over 18 months before installation and when it was installed it required major repairs as oven elements and cook top burners didn't work. After a service call from an Ilve accredited agent (which we paid ourselves as warranty was out) nothing improved, but only got worse. The agent then wanted huge money to make other repairs as Ilve didn't want to know about it. After now writing 3 letters to Ilve with no reply I am throwing this out to public forum to gauge other people's experiences. On top of this I specified Ilve stoves in a set of townhouses at about the same time and 2 of these had to be replaced. I do wonder about their quality control!
