From what you have told me sounds as thought you have a compressor with bad bearings. More than likely its going to cost you more than what the frig is worth.

The noise just gets louder, like its working extra hard to do its job. I haven't heard any clicking. When we plug the unit in after it's been unplugged a while it runs cold and quite. Once I here the louder running noise I know the unit is blowing warm air.

Sounds like some sort of compressor problem, on the noise, do you ever hear a clicking sound? [if not what kind of noise is it?] Sounds like it could be a overload on the compressor.

Hello all, I have a 2003 GE profile fridge model number PTS25LBM and it runs cold and hot. The unit makes a louder running noise when it's warm and if I unplug the unit and let it sit overnight I can plug it in and the unit is quite and cools as it should. After a day or so the noise is back and the unit is warm. It's our garage unit so I unplugged it for a week and when I plugged it back in, it stayed cool for 3 days and now it's hot again. I've tried to get an appliance guy to come out but when I explained the problem he said he couldn't help and he wished me good luck? Any ideas?
