The Lg models really are very nice models, that said you really can't go wrong with any of the french door models right now in my opinion.  The samsung models are very similar to the ge profile model that holds the coveted #1 spot by consumer reports this year, and the lg models are very similar to the Kenmore models which are very very popular models.  I really prefer the LG models just due to the layout of where the ice maker is (if your looking at the dispensing model) and the shelving as i find it one of the more durable.....if your interested feel free to call and i'd be happy to go into more depth about those models you can reach me at 920-738-8646 ... just ask for Ryan.....

You could do a direct comparison of energy use between models you're  interested in and similar models that qualified for the EnergyStar rating.  They might be close enough to qualifying, that you would be satisfied. 

You can find those sort of specs on the product page of most manufacturers, or as part of the description of a particular product.

(which also included the Kenmore Elite Trios)  I believe Samsung's French door models are not rated well either but wasn't sure if their rating was removed.  For some reason I remember reading one article stating most French door models were being re-evaluated and another contradictating that.  Confused to say the least!

What's the DOE issue?  I haven't much at all about Samsung fridges.
