I would suggest tearing it down again and realigning all the levers and cam back up. This model also has a spring that was very bad about breaking off of the console, there was a tab that the spring hooked to, we always would put a hole back into the console, I used  to use an ice pick heated up to make a new hole, the console cost around $60.

I have a GE dishwasher (potscrubber model) and recently after replacing the front cover panel, my soap dispenser won't open while the cycle is running. It takes a lot of force to open it when the dishwasher is off but I can do this.
