Most of the time the manufacturers start discontinuing cosmetic parts like door handles and door skins just past the 10 year mark. Although many times you can get a replacement by simply going to your local distributor for appliance parts.

If you tried the manufactures site I am sure they would have something to replace it with. Even if you find new refrigerator handles with a close resemblance of what you have there is no reason that shouldn't work.

Hi,

I have an Amana 20 Energy Saver bottom freezer fridge that came with the condo I bought. It's probably 10-20 years old. It works fine, so I have no desire to replace it; but the door handles and door trim are an ugly yellow plastic that has worn poorly and clashes with the rest of the kitchen. I'd like to replace them with stainless steel handles that match the door pulls on our cabinets.

First, is this even feasible? Second, if it is, where and how would I look for the right parts? Doorware.com has lots of replacement refrigerator door handles in various styles but they say nothing about which models they are compatible with.

On a related note, I can't find the model number of the fridge-- anyone know where the model numbers are on these Amanas? I've looked all around the inside of the fridge and freezer, along the doors and behind the kickplate, to no avail. There is a label that has been torn off along the top of the inside of the freezer door-- but aren't model numbers supposed to be on metal plates rather than peelable labels?
