I must say we have had similar bad experiences with KitchenAid appliances. Three years ago, my wife, children and I moved into our brand new dream home.
We furnished with KithenAid Architect series appliances. So far, the refirgerator has required service, (it was down for a week), the microwave required a new magnatron, and now, the range has failed so catastrophically we have been advised to replace it.
Gotta say, I just can't recommend KithecnAid appliances….

I purchased a Kitchen aid built in refrigerator which is still under factory warranty. The refrigerator was only coolng to 47 degress and the freezer 33 degrees. Kitchen aid refered service to A and E appliance repair. A and E has been out 7 times ( yes I had to take off a total of 7 days from work ). They have replaced the compressor 3 times, dryer twice and numerous other parts with no success. After the 4th visit my refigerator has not worked at all. This event has taken over 4 weeks, with A and E. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with along with Kitchen Aid. On my last appointment they called my 6:30 in the evening before and cancel my appoint due to the fact no service person was available.
After several conversations with A and E management and Kitchen I still have a non functional refrigerator. Please let all your family and friends know if you purchase a kitchen aid refrigerator or do business with A and E appliance repair they really do not care to support there products or customers.
