Our washer – front loader by Bosch – came with optional feet for installing on certain floors.  At least that's what the guy who put it in said.  He said it would reduce the shaking.

Nearly all wood flooring is a very high risk for shaking / vibration / noise.

At retail stores–consumers are often told by the sales staff that if the front load washer will be on the “main” floor rather than on the “second” level floor–that it'll likely be fine.

This is incorrect.

Most wood floors on any level (1st / 2nd / 33rd etc) will allow too much shaking during the spin cycle.

Samsung front load washers (and the LG *square* door models) are designed to operate problem-free on wood flooring.

These models have a  proprietary balancing system that *cancels out* the resonance from the tub during the spin cycle. VERY effective.

I thought the shaking had more to do with the location of the laundry room.  Meaning that a second floor laundry room will have more shaking than a ground floor one will.

When shopping for a new front load washer–consumers need to be aware that most front loaders on wood floors will produce an annoying & unacceptable amount  vibration / shaking or walking condition during the spin cycle.

This is a VERY common complaint.

Some have thought that having tile floor will minimize or eliminate this problem–not so.

Others have tried stacking the dryer atop the washer or removing the pedestals in a vain attempt to solve the irritating racket–to no effect.

The answer is knowing which front load washers are DESIGNED to perform smoothly on wood floors.

The following are those that are superb performers:

1) All Samsung washers manufactured in 2008 and newer. These machines will have the Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT) feature. The letters V-R-T will usually be on the right / front cover of the washer.

2) LG washer model: WM3001xxx. This is currently the ONLY model that LG has available–that will function as desired on wood floors.
