It may several cause

1. Gas pressure is very low. Check the gas pressure

2. Burner are not cleaned properly. Clean the dust, rust ,dirt.

3. Old regulator. Replace the old regulator.

Please check these things. I hope it will help. Smile

I have a Hotpoint RGA720 and from time to time perhaps 5/10% of the time one of the burners will burn with a yellow flame and there will be a smell which may come from the flame singing the pot.
