Whirlpool is a very good brand and it's icemaker product is very good. I want to know what happend with your appliance, what are the symptoms, icemaker age, model number in briefly so, I can find the main problem. There may be a little repair or replacement need. So, describe briefly.

Whirlpool icemaker model 4317943. My original ice maker failed after 8 years. The aftermarket replacement failed after one year (thermostat), and then most recently, after ten days of working perfectly, the replacement died again (motor quit turning so ice wouldn't dump). Is it likely that the Chinese replacements are just unreliable, or could the wire harness (or something else) be causing the icemaker to go bad? Should I try a new wiring harness? I am getting a free replacement for the most recent failed ice maker.

It does seem like if the icemaker works when installed, the wire harness should be OK.

Thanks.
