I also experienced the same mistake with my stand mixer and I got rid of it because I felt so dumb about it. But that's not to discourage you.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue you I have as it's not easy (in fact, it's impossible) to obtain sound advice in my current counry of residence (KSA).

Last night, I received a KitchenAid mixer from the US. Excitedly, I plugged it into the wall and turned it one. Instantly, there was a blue flash inside the mixer and that notorious smell of fried circuit board!

Turns out the mixer is meant for use on 120V power outlets whereas the power outlets in my house are 240V.

So, my question is; do you think that the mixer is knackered or would it just be the thermal resistor and/or another component on the circuit board? I really hope the motor isn't gone.

Any help would be really appreciated.
