They can be very hard to slide out or very easy. The unit weights in at around 400 lbs.. Most have screws through the side to cabinet, some [they all should have] something mounted to top to keep it from falling forward, [2x4 mounted to wall, strap mounted to top of unit to wall, etc.]  Lower the unit by screwing in feet, to clear top, if something is above unit.  I have some “sliders” that we put under the legs.  Try sliding it out around 6 in.,  tilt back,  put sliders under front legs,   continue to slide unit out,  till it clears cabinets. As you stated the unit is “very” top heavy, so use 2-3 people.  We always dolly from the side, or lay all the way down on a furniture mover, the flat platform with 4 wheels.

Help.  How do remove an old 36″ Sub Zero built-in refrigerator.  It has been in place since the late 1950's.  There are no wheels on this model; it sits on four metal adjustable feet and has a drip pan underneath.  This model is refrigerator on top, freezer door on bottom.  There is adequate clearance in front of it.  No ice maker, so no water line.  Do I just slide an appliance dolly underneath and tilt back?  Of course, it has two compressors on the top which makes it top heavy.  Any idea how heavy it is?  If any of you guys have done this before, please give me directions and hints.  Thanks.
