Sears Unveils Kenmore Elite Oasis Washer and Dryer

Laundry Pair Combines High Efficiency with Deep Clean Functionality and SteamCare Technology
Kenmore Elite’s SteamCare technology, harnesses the power of steam by saturating dry clothing with a fine mist of water while simultaneously heating the interior of the appliance. The water and heat work together to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and odors, so consumers can avoid washing an article of clothing that may only need refreshing, saving both water and energy.

The new Oasis washer cleans better than any other model among leading brand top loaders, offering features like gentlewash technology to clean delicate items and Catalyst Cleaning Action to help ensure bright whites. The TimedOxi option, available in a top load model for the first time through Oasis, releases oxygen-based stain fighters at the precise time for powerful stain-fighting performance. Additionally, the washer is certified by the National Sanitization Foundation to eliminate 99.9 percent of certain bacteria found in clothes, sheets and towels.

Kenmore continues to deliver on high efficiency with this newest addition to the Oasis line up, as both models are more efficient than first generation Oasis HE models, surpassing ENERGY STAR standards. Adding to the efficiency, the Save Energy Plus feature conserves up to 20 percent more energy by extending wash times using cold water in cycles that may typically use hot water.

The Oasis washer’s Invizible Agitator sits low in its drum, allowing more space for clothing or bulky items like comforters and winter coats. Transparent, tinted glass doors on both the washer and dryer deliver a unique aesthetic, and consumers interested in second floor installation will be comforted to know that the Kenmore Elite Oasis creates the fewest vibrations in the industry.

The Oasis washer offers Kenmore Canyon Capacity — 4.6 cubic feet of cleaning space that efficiently cleans up to 24 bath towels in a single load. Also available in the Oasis dryer, the exclusive 7.4 cubic feet Canyon Capacity ensures that a full load from the washer will be effectively dried.

TurboDry technology in the Oasis dryer uses a 35 percent larger blower to increase airflow, drying a load of laundry more quickly than it takes to wash one. The Dual Action Drying system also contributes to faster dry times by simultaneously promoting airflow and tumbling.  Gentleheat technology uses an advanced computer to measure air
temperature and moisture more accurately and calculate exactly how long a cycle should run, resetting the temperature as needed to improve fabric care.

The Oasis and Oasis pair will be available in white in March 2008 at for the regular retail price of $1,099. SteamCare and energy efficiency are also available in the HE Steam Laundry pair in white and the designer color, barolo. Prices range from $1,499 to $1,599 for washers and $1,199 to $1,299 for dryers depending on color. Base pedestals retail
for $259.99 each in color and $229.99 each in white.

  1. I am one of perhaps hundreds of unhappy owners of the Sears Kenmore Oasis HE washing machine. After only a year and a half, one day, just prior to the rinse cycle, all of the lights lit up on the control panel and a message appeared that read, “F1″. I went to the Internet, (http://www.fixya.com/support/t286969-f1_error_code_kenmore_oasis) and Googled Oasis HE washing machine. Sure enough there were
dozens of owners of this machine who had the exact, “F1″ error message. I called Sears and they sent a repair technician who after scratching his head for some time called the factory (at least that’s what he said he was doing). After a trip to his truck and another half hour, he finished the repair job by installing an electronic control panel at which time I was presented with a bill for $394.49.

Sears has a well documented problem with this machine for which they appear willing to risk their reputation for fair and honest dealing with their customers. In the first place, the Oasis was not an inexpensive machine to purchase, however, with an additional $400 dollar repair bill I may be at the point of saying good bye to them forever.

Oh, one final point. The next day following the supposed repair job, I attempted to wash a load of clothes only to be presented once more with the dreaded “F1″ error message. What now??

  2. I too have that error on my machine. What a waste of money and Sears CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. They do not offer any assistance in the matter either. I am DISGUSTED with SEARS and this washing machine.

  3. We too are experiencing the dreaded F1 error and just like yourself the repairman not only asked for the book the washer came with but also made a phone call. He also told me that the control board had failed. Just like yourself I spent the rest of the afternoon researching this machine and found tons of other people with the same problem. Wouldn’t you think that Sears would at least send out a notice or something to customers who have purchased this model to if nothing more tell them they should extend the warranties? I am very upset and now distrustful of Sears…. What reputation are you speaking of??? A $400 repair on a machine that almost cost that much in just over a year is ridiculous. Shame on you Sears, Shame on you!

  4. I purchased this wash machine in may of 06. After 4 months they came out and found a crew inside the base of the washer causing rough sounds during cycle. Fixed that problem. A month or so later back again for the F1 issue. Sears tech made a call order a part (mother computer board) for the top of the washer. After a week of not having the washer the part came in the tech came a day later and replaced. Same problem again another 4 months or so but this time it keeps saying UL, F1, F2. I had no idea what was going on. So they came back out and still would not replace my washer since it was under warrenty. In the paper work it said if a technician comes out for the same problem 3 times you may be in title for a replacement. Well guess what they never acknowledged it being the same problem the last three times they came. There ended up being a few other and now it goes crazy.. It beeps non stop while washing and when I first turn it on to wash I have to wait a few seconds for it to finish calibrating. After the cycle is done it beeps every few seconds till I unplug it from the wall. Otherwise after about a half an hour it starts spitting water back into the washer even though its not on….What a mess I paid 1200 dollars for this machine. I’m holding out for a recall or replacement..What a waste of money.. Even the dryer acts up from time to time. I get a code reading F45 as it flashes…

  5. I have been researching this for the past 2 months. I don’t know what to do? Some say there is a recall for certain models. But when I call the product resolution line (8006597036) they tell me there are no recalls on any kenmore washers. Some have replaced the corrupt board with a new one, and to find out later the same problem occurs. I get F1 and F2 codes and today the whole board is flashing like a disco ball and making beeping noises through the whole cycle. Just in time for Halloween!

  6. What I gather from the other comments is my husband will be buying a new washer.. Its either that or he will continue to do the laundry and I don’t think that will last very long {we have 5 children 4 of them are boys}…

  7. I, too, have been blessed with the dreaded F-1 code. It happened out of the blue when my washer was not quite two years old. The cost of repair (a new control panel) was almost $400. I think what makes me angriest is that, according to comments all over the web, Sears apparently knew the control panels on these things were problematic before I ever bought my machine, yet did not correct the problem and show little concern for my problem. I’ll never buy from Sears again!

  8. I also bought one of the Oasis washers…..F1 error on almost every load now. This problem seems to occur on the 18th month of use from what I can see from other numerous complaints on the internet……… Sears stand behind your products or go under as Wards did…..

  9. I too have this machine and it is not quite 2 years old as well. I started experiencing the “F1″ code on all my loads. Except now it is on about 4 to 5 times every load. Twice when we start the machine and at least twice to rinse and spin. I called Sears and they told me that it would cost 65 to 80 dollars for someone to come look at it…just to look..not fix. They didn’t offer any suggestions as to what the problem could be or even a manuel look-up! I am very upset as this washer is very expensive and I refuse to pay more to have something fixed that is obviously a serious issue with other customers. There should be a recall on this product!! Sears has just lost a good paying customer!

  10. this is frustrating ! … i just googled kenmore elite oasis he washer for troubleshooting solutions and discovered i am one of many with the F1 code

and yes i have owned the machine only 18 months … what is a consumer to do if Sears will not stand behind the product as a lemon … i can not afford a steep repair nor do i believe i should pay for it !

Sears you have a reputation to hold up to … another disappointed customer who will never shop at Sears again !

  11. I too went to use my washer yesterday and am now recieving the f error code.. actually f 51.. went online to look up the code and find that hundreds of people seem to be having the same problem. Also found a site that is looking into a class action suit http://www.toploadclassaction.com/kenmore.php I may need to look into this further if I dont get anywhere with Sears tomorrow. Will keep you posted. Very disappointing to see all these complaints.

  12. I also own a Kenmore Elite Oasis washer and the “F1″ code is flashing I had it for 12 months when it started flashing. I called Sears to find out how to fix it and they said they couldn’t tell me anything over the phone so I have an appoitment for them to come out for $65.00 to tell me what is wrong with it. So in the mean time I have to run a hose from outside to fill it up with water and then it works until the rinse cycle then I have to do it again.

  13. Same thing here - started out under warranty with the F1 and Ld errors. Called Sears - of course it worked fine while they were her. A month after the warranty expired - it was back. Ended up buying the control board after waiting a month on backorder and 175 later it worked for 4 months. Now error codes are different every other day. F32 - Lf - F70 you name it. I hate this thing but have too much invested to put it at the curb.

  14. Same Problem. Just bite the bullit and replace with reputable model from somewhere else, and NEVER buy at sears again, EVER. They are on their way to bankcruptcy anyway - no hope there.

  15. F1, F1, F1 to you sears. you will never hear from me again. You and Kmart can close your doors now because you won’t be able to handle the class action suit!!!!!

  16. Sears - You make my life miserable. F1 to you, too. Have to wash my rags at the stream like when this country started, with a palo palo, Never buy sears again.

  17. Never had problems in the past, always bought appliances at Sears and lasted for a very reasonable time, but now we also fell about a month ago into the new washer machine F1 problem and it’s not encouraging the readings of upset customers.

Hope Sears management are americans with pride on their products and country, come up with a reasonable solution…. Our manufacturers and seller’s reputation as of quality of home made products concern have created a long way to go before they can gain the customer’s confidence.

    Salute to our veterans!

  18. Well, no successful dealing with Sears so unfortunately I am left with no choice but to fill out the following:

    Dear Mrs. Almon,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Kenmore Washing Machines. We have two class action cases pending against Sears for these machines. We are trying to help as many people as we can who have had problems or lost money on these machines, which would include you as well.

Regarding your Kenmore washing machine, we would like to know the following:
    1) Did you purchase the machine?

    3) How much did you pay for the machine?
    4) When did the Machine start to malfunction?
    5) What error code(s) are displaying?
    6) Are you having any problems with mold or mildew?
    7) Did your warranty cover any of the damages? Are you still under warranty?
    8) Did you have any correspondence with Sears?
    9) Did you purchase an extended warranty? If so, how long is the warranty and how much did you pay for it?

Please feel free to contact us by phone or email if you have any additional questions.

    Sincerely,

    http://www.toploadclassaction.com/kenmore.php

  19. I purchased my washer and dryer on November 10 Of ‘06 and spent close to $3800. I (come to find out) was one of the lucky few who bought into the extended warranty. Now I see why they were pushing them. My first problem was on the Dryer 2 weeks after they were bought, I was recieving a F51 I believe. A Tech ordered the part before he came out. Then today we get F1 on the washing machine, almost 2 years to the date. I did what everyone else did and performed a search on the code. Seams to me it is a bigger problem. I found results for a recall phone number which is 1-800-659-7026 and found that my machines were not in recall, I then asked to be transfered to ask about warranty. The lady did say that I had purchased the extended warranty and was covered for a while, however, I think Sears really needs to handle this better. My advice, when you call Sears to come fix it, let them come out, when the guy hands you a bill refuse it and ask him to send it to the president of sears :) F1 it.

  20. ATTENTION EVERYONE TO GET THESE FAULTY KENMORE OASIS REPLACED WE ALL NEED TO REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. LOOK UP THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN YOUR STATE AND CALL. I JUST FILED A COMPLAINT. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP. I PURCHASED MINE IN AUG. 2007 AND IN APRIL 08 I KEPT HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS EVERYONE ELSE HAS REPORTED. THE APPLIANCE STORE I BOUGHT THIS WASHER FROM SENT A REPAIR MAN TO MY HOUSE HE WOULD SAY THIS OR THIS WAS WRONG, BUT IT STILL WOULDN’T WORK. EVENTUALLY THE “MOTHER CHIP BOARD”, OR WHATEVER HE CALLED IT, WAS REPLACED. IT WORKED OK FOR ABOUT 5 MORE MONTHS IF THAT AND THEN STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I CALLED THE APPLIANCE STORE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND TOLD THEM THAT THE REPAIRMAN TOLD ME TO CALL BACK IF IT DID THIS AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THE COULD SENT SOMEONE OUT, BUT SINCE THE WASHER ONLY CAME WITH A YEAR WARRANTY I WOULD BE CHARGED $60 JUST TO COME TO MY HOUSE, $50/HOUR FOR LABOR, AND THE PARTS. I DON’T BELIEVE THIS IS FAIR. THE CHIP BOARD HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE, SO WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO PAY $500 EVERY 5 MONTHS TO KEEP THIS THING WORKING. I DON’T THINK SO. IF ANYONE ELSE IS EXPERIANCING THESE PROBLEMS PLEASE REMEMBER WE NEED TO PULL TOGETHER AND CONTACT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I HAVE THE NUMBER FOR IOWA ITS 515-243-8137

  21. We purchasing our Kenmore Oasis in May, 2006. In Sept, 08, my husband replaced the pump assembly at a cost of $100 including shipping. Two weeks ago, I went to do a load of laundry and it just won’t turn on. No error codes, no lights, no nothing. Called Sears - purchasing a one year service contract - scheduled appt. The night before the scheduled appointment, they canceled and rescheduled for the following Tuesday. The night before that scheduled appointment, they canceled again. Now, I have been without a washer for two weeks. I finally called another repair agency and they showed up today. They say the control board needs to be replaced at a cost of $425 and 7 to 10 days!! $1600 and counting!! What to do - repair? replace?

  22. OMG! I cannot believe the Sears name is behind this screw job. We have had the washer for 16 months and are having the same problem as everyone else…starts, stops,F1, three beeps. This is so upsetting. DO NOT bother calling Sears/Kenmore…they will not help at all. I agree we all have to call the Better Business Bureau AND anyone else that can expose them and help us all. Good luck :(

  23. We have had the Kenmore Elite since Appox 2004 and have had all of these problems since New. So far every Part in the machine has been replaced except the drive motor. Last night the repair man replaced the main board, started a load of wash when he left. Nothing changed, still “F”. Had to finally unplug the machine, so we could go to bed. This morning as i type it is beeping 2 codes F2 and Sud, had to push cancel and restart 7 times, I now hear the machine beeping again…. I have totaled the repair cost, For a $999.00 machine they have put $1734.55 in repair costs???? This was All done under warrenty
For 27 years we have had 2 kenmore machines and NEVER had one repair on either one of them!! Sears Has found as way to make more money from their customers instead of selling machines that are reliable.I am no longer going to buy SEARS for anything!! OH I have to go Its beeping again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. I too am the disappointed owner of the Kenmore Elite Oasis HE. After owning a Kenmore Washer and Dryer for 15 year I thought I could trust sears to be reliable until now. I bought my new Elite washer and Dryer Nov 29th 2006. About 6 months ago the dryer started beeping out of nowhere and kept it up no matter what I did until I unplugged it. It still does it, but at least it runs. My washer started with the F1 code about 3 months ago and has gotten much worse that I can’t even wash a load without restarting it at least 5 times. I have a feeling I know what F1 stands for, but it is not very nice, so I can’t say it here. Anyway… When I called sears they wanted to charge me the $69 dollar service fee just to have someone look at it. I couldn’t even speak to a tech because I don’t have a warrenty. I just wanted a guestimate on the cost to fix it before someone came out and charged me for something I can’t afford. I have 5 kids and am a stay at home mom who just needs to do my laundry!!! I still haven’t gotten it fixed because I refuse to give sears anymore of my money at all!!! The guy at customer relations today said he would have someone from consumer safety call me. Apparently they are the ones who will get a recall going if enough people complain. So keep trying and maybe we can get this taken care of!!

  25. I am having the same problem I am waiting on parts to be ordered now. The whole mother board and several other parts are on order. I am looking at 10 plus days without a washer. I asked them to please overnight the parts but they were very rude and told me to visit my local laundromat. I was even hung up on. I will never buy or recommend anyone buy from Sears. I am contacting everyone to register a complaint againt this machine and also the lack of customer service from Sears.
